36 Weeks
You have power that you may not know about. You have influence that is untapped. You have a voice all your own.
Believe it or not, as an American teenager, for better or for worse, the world is watching you. Your potential for positive impact on your school, your community and your world is limited only by your passion, your imagination and your willingness to work.
StudentReach believes in you because we have seen tens of thousands of students change things in huge ways.
36 Weeks is a guide to involvment and change at your school. This guide is meant to be extremely practical and flexible. Feel free to make changes and adjustments as you feel necessary.
The basic structure is follows this pattern:
Week #1 – Awareness Week
This week is focused on having a presentation. You can use a club if you want to do this officially or you could just use the theater or some other facility at your school. Invite a guest speaker (we give you ideas), have some students give testimonials and add some other creative ideas to your meeting, but definitely talk about your group and promote the event of the next couple of weeks and your big event of the semester.
Week #2 – School Outreach Week
This is your week to change the thinking and actions of students at your school. There are tons of creative ideas for the school outreach week. Get the word out. Make it fun. Make a difference.
Week #3 – Community Outreach Week
This is your chance to change things in your community. Get out there and do something. Organize the troops and get something done.
Week #4 – Global Impact Week
The world is a big place, but you can make a difference. That sounds a little idealistic, but it’s not. You can raise funds for AIDS prevention and save a live for the price of a soft drink. You can write e-mails that change things. You can adjust your consumer habits in a way that decreases world-wide slavery. You can change the world.
We hope this guide helps you get started and keep going in your effort to see good things happen in your school your community and the in your world. Imagine what we can do together.
